Program Details
The HAESF Fellowship allows for the entire length of the various executive education programs as posted on Harvard University's respective course website.
Airfare
HASEF will purchase one round trip, economy fare ticket between Hungary and Boston, MA. The HAESF Budapest office will purchase the Fellow's plane tickets only after they have been accepted to the respective program and have secured the U.S. visa. Airfare will be based on the best available round-trip economy price.
General Award Info
Monetary amounts vary from participant to participant depending on the length and costs of attending the respective Executive Education program. Scholarship awards are determined in advance based on each individual circumstances and are not negotiable . In general, scholarship awards will cover all expenses related to attending the approved Executive Education program. While awards are meant to maintain a basic but comfortable standard of living, they do not provide for an extravagant lifestyle or as it may pertain to lifestyle preferences.
Awards may cover the following:
- Tuition and fees
- one economy based round-trip plane ticket from Hungary to Boston, MA
- room and board
- local public transportation
- program mandated health insurance
- visa processing fees
- personal allowance
Awards do NOT cover:
- vacation / leisurely travel in the U.S.
- gift or pleasure shopping
- hardware or equipment purchases (computers, laptops, printers etc.)
- additional expenses that pertain to lifestyle preferences
- dependent expenses
Housing
Housing options will vary from participant to participant depending on the Executive Education program. In most cases, housing will be pre-arranged on or near campus. In some cases, participants will be responsible for locating and securing adequate housing for themselves. Please review the respective course details for complete information.
Visa Services
In most cases, applicants will be required to apply for the B-1 non-immigrant visa for business/tourist purposes. HAESF will assist participants to secure US visas administratively and monetarily. Ultimately, however, HAESF cannot guarantee the receipt of a U.S. visa. Participants will be responsible for completing all visa forms in a timely and accurate manner, meeting with U.S. consular officials for an interview, and maintaining and submitting appropriate documentation.
Program Restrictions
Selected participants will be asked to abide by all U.S. laws, Harvard University rules as well as HAESF's policies and restrictions, such as:
- Participants are expected to attend and complete the Executive Education program to which they were accepted and approved by HAESF.
- Participants cannot engage in work or volunteer while in the U.S.
- HAESF Fellows are not allowed to receive any other compensation in addition to their HAESF scholarship.
- Home Residency Requirement: Upon completion of the Executive Education program participants are required to return to Hungary to utilize the skills and knowledge that s/he has gained during the program , and are not permitted to stay or attempt to stay in the U.S. or any other foreign country, including to work or pursue work. Fellows on a short-term Fellowship (shorter than 6 months and/or up to $15,000) are subject to a 2-year home country residency requirement. Awards exceeding $15,000 or 6 months duration are subject to the 3-year home country residency requirement. Short-term visits to foreign countries for tourism or short-term business trips are allowed.
The residency requirement constitutes a moral obligation that relates to the foundational aim of the HAESF program of promoting free enterprise and business development in Hungary through investment in human capital. Applicants should agree to uphold the home residency requirement as precondition for acceptance. Participants who do not comply with the home residency requirement may be required to refund their scholarship award.
